Aggressors may replace the institutions of the Indigenous people with counterfeits of their own: shut down their independent media, representative bodies and civic organizations, and set up controlled ones in their place, with a "national" façade, in their language, under the old name and logo. This is how the colonizer speaks to the people in their own voice and passes off its propaganda and its own people as the nation itself.
